Prambanan Temple, located near Yogyakarta in Central Java, Indonesia, is the largest Hindu temple complex in the country and one of Southeast Asia’s most magnificent archaeological sites. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its towering spires and intricate stone carvings that celebrate Hindu mythology.
Built in the 9th century, Prambanan is dedicated to the Hindu Trimurti: Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver, and Shiva the Destroyer. The main temple complex features three towering temples, the tallest of which, the Shiva temple, stands at 47 meters. Surrounding the main temples are over 200 smaller structures, many in various states of ruin and restoration.
Prambanan is a must-visit for those interested in ancient architecture, mythology, and culture. Its scale, beauty, and spiritual energy make it one of Indonesia’s top tourist destinations
